  • Job Description

    It is the primary responsibility of the Engineer to perform preventive and ongoing maintenance of the hotel, casino, back of house, and retail areas within the property. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices and procedures

    Job Focus

    Focus is on, but not limited to the following:

    • Engineers must be proficient and versatile in one or more building trades: electrical, painting, carpentry, industrial plumbing, HVAC, kitchen appliances, swimming pools, and general mechanics
    • Applies paint using a roller, hand brush, or spray gun on all types of furniture, fixtures, walls, ceilings, etc
    • Installs and repairs wallpaper throughout the property
    • Patches and prepares all surfaces for paint or wallpaper, including sheet rock patches
    • Refinishes all types of furniture
    • Applies tape and drywall finish as required
    • Applies acoustical ceiling finishes and other textured finishes to match
    • Advises Senior Watch Engineer of all work orders and/or projects currently being worked on, the scheduling of projects, and materials needed for such projects
    • Ensures that all equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat and orderly at all times
    • Keeps informed and updated on current techniques and technical methods
    • Maintains a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention
    • Advises Senior Watch Engineer of any unusual conditions within the property
    • Perform other related duties and assist other trades as requested by the Supervisor

    Desired Qualifications

    • A High School diploma or equivalent is required
    • At least five (5) years of experience in hotel and casino maintenance is required
    • At least five (5) years of experience as a Painter, preferably in a hotel or industrial complex property
    • Extensive knowledge of the Painter’s trade to repair and maintain the property, such as: application of paint on furniture, fixtures, walls, ceilings, etc.; refinishing furniture; apply acoustical ceiling finishes and other textured finishes; installation and repair of wallpaper; sheet rock patches; tape and drywall finish
    • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of business
    • A professional appearance and demeanor must be maintained at all times
    • Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
    • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in English, both written and verbal
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required
    • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
    • A proven ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
    • Operating knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools and powered equipment
    • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment such as: telephones, copier, fax machine, Email, etc
    • A valid NV Driver’s License is required and must be obtained before entering this position
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
