  • Job Description

    To provide leadership in the implementation of the company’s efforts; to plan, implement and supervise the safety program and ensure compliance with the company philosophy and promote the maintenance of a safe, accident free and healthy work environment

    Job Focus

    Focus is on, but not limited to the following:

    • Responsible for the identification, evaluation of risk, and selection of methods to handle all risk exposures which would result in human, physical, or financial loss to the Company
    • Works closely with the Company’s consultants, insurance representatives, and staff in implementing new programs, upgrading existing programs, and in formulating recommendations to management on rules and procedures
    • Plans, organizes, coordinates and directs all property/casualty, worker’s compensation, and safety programs for the Company
    • Assists in all accident investigations and facility safety inspections; assures that an effective accident prevention program is maintained and that appropriate measures are taken to comply with Authority, OSHA, D.O.T., State and related safety regulation policies and directives
    • Pro-actively manages and implements all Company safety policies & procedures and assure compliance endeavors that insure a safe work environment; Researches new regulations and developments in the field of Health and Safety and recommends changes in the company’s program
    • Assists in the documentation and implementation of required or desired changes in the safety program; Assist with Set up and oversight of the safety function within each department and oversee the implementation of safety program initiatives
    • Writes job specific Safety plans; schedules jobsite visits and safety audits
    • Ensures full compliance of safety plan
    • Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through site visits, safety plans, and education of all supervisory personnel
    • Reinforces safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale
    • Creates a working atmosphere that promotes openness and a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the field
    • Accompanies all safety, health and insurance inspectors on walk through inspections
    • Responsible for initiating and managing all aspects of the Safety function
    • Implements training and safety awareness initiatives that promote a safe work environment for all employees as well as the public with which we interact
    • Ensures that State and Federal OSHA regulatory compliance is maintained to include training, reporting, procedures, written program development, annual updates, employee exposure monitoring and assessments
    • Provides management with timely accident/injury trending and other compliance reports as requested. Develop and maintain work comp expense metrics which allow senior management to monitor overall effectiveness of safety initiatives and their costs associated to work related injuries
    • Develops and maintains safety training programs
    • Responsible for the proper filing of all required Federal & State reporting for safety
    • Is always available for accident reporting by cell phone
    • Maintains Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance programs and Maintains OSHA 300 and 300A log
    • Monitors compliance with Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan (SPCC)
    • Maintains and tracks issues developed through the monthly facility inspection process
    • Coordinates information with workers comp adjusters, including administration of the return to duty program
    • Coordinates information between AL/GL claim adjusters and management on vehicle, equipment and / or property claims
    • Chairperson of Safety Committee
    • Performs additional assignments as required by operating needs of the company or as directed by upper management, including but not exclusive to: ensuring compliance with pollution control and environment issues; involvement in disaster response and planning
    • Keep managers and employees alerted as to the hazards of working with toxic fumes, dangerous chemicals, and any other hazardous substances
    • Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations

     

    Desired Qualifications

    • Four (4) or more years of industry related experience in a Risk Management role.

    • Certified First Aid/CPR Trainer status preferred

    • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact

    • Understand that “Safety is an important element of marketing”

    • Operates office equipment such as computers, PC’s, calculator, telephone, voice mail, copy and fax machines

    • Sense of responsibility and ownership for project

    • Excellent customer service skills

    • Understand and follow protocol for the proper lines of communication (i.e. understand whom our contract is with)

    • Clear understanding of Company mission and values

    • Ability to work independently and as part of team

    • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills

    • Ability to working independently with little to no supervision

    • Must be able to perform in a team environment

    • Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of staff and leadership

    • Previous experience in a high-end luxury Gaming or Hospitality environment is desired

    • Must have exceptional time management skills

    • An intermediate to proficient understanding of Computer systems such as: Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook is preferred

    • Proven ability to resolve guest conflicts with ease or determine if management is needed in certain guest situations

    • A valid NV Driver’s License is required and must be obtained before entering this position

    • Must be 21 years of age or older
