  • Job Description

    Responsible for selling the hotel as it pertains to all catering needs to include social catering and at times, special events. In addition the position is responsible for detailing every aspect of a group booking, coordinating the details within each department and being the point person for the client

    Job Focus

    Focus is on, but not limited to the following:

     

    • Actively soliciting new business opportunities by conducting effective sales calls, makes off- site sales calls, mailers, emails and presentations to potential clients
    • Generating sales that will maximize revenue while developing and maintaining long term relationships with clients
    • Achieving monthly individual and team revenue goals
    • Attending local trade shows, participating in sales blitzes and other off-site sales efforts
    • Negotiate, contract and monitor account agreements and productivity
    • Ensure rates/menu pricing committed are competitive and offer highest yield for the hotel to ensure maximum profitability
    • Solidify and maintain relationships with assigned accounts through regular sales visits, client entertainment, office receptions, site inspections, welcome & thank you letters and repeated follow-up
    • Develop creative programs/packages to ensure maximum banquet room occupancy and client satisfaction for catering accounts
    • Work in tandem with both the Sales and Marketing Team and Food & Beverage Team to develop programs/packages and offerings to promote to existing and prospect accounts/corporations
    • Respond to client requests on a same-day basis and assure that proposals and contracts meet the hotel's requirements
    • Conduct pre-event and post-event meetings with clients
    • Clear understanding of both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process
    • Effective and proactive communication to external and internal clients
    • Through knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills and negotiation skills
    • Work closely with banquet department on operations and event execution 
    • Writing letters, emails, menus and event proposals to clients
    • Managing and Updating Event Calendars with tentative and definite business
    • Inputting events into the internal database to ensure hotel operations is informed as to all events in venue
    • Handling special event orders and communicating information to the venue’s operations team
    • Ensuring staffing levels are met.
    • Working with Logistics Manager and all aspects of event production needs
    • Ensuring all accounting paperwork is accurate and invoicing and collection of all monies prior to event/group are handled
    • Determine preferred partnerships with DMC’s, Production Companies, and vendors
    • Attending weekly meetings/conference calls with operation management and sales team to review upcoming events for the week and attend pre-shift with the staff on nights of events.
    • Participating in sales training as directed by Director of Sales

    Desired Qualifications

    • Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage, catering sales or conference service management experience, guest relations and etiquette
    • Basic MS Office skills (Excel, Work, databases)
    • Basic understanding of legal contract language
    • Two (2) or more years in a Manager role, catering capacity desired.
    • Interpersonal skills, strong guest/client relations
    • Analysis and decision making
    • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize in a fast-pace, high volume environment
    • College Degree desired
    • Must be 21 years of age or older
    • Must be able to obtain an Alcohol Awareness Card by time of hire
