Job Description

The Human Resources Director aligns business objectives with employees and management across the property ensuring that all stakeholders achieve success. The Human Resources Director serves as a consultant to management on Human Resource related issues

Job Focus

Focus is on, but not limited to the following:

  • Lead a team of HR professionals and influence all leadership on property
  • Act as employee champion ensuring employees have effective communication with their leadership teams
  • Assesses and anticipate HR-related needs and execute as needed
  • Maintain an effective level of business literacy about the business units financial position, its mid-range plans, its culture and its competition
  • Consult with management providing HR guidance when appropriate with a focus on employee relations, union contracts, and leaves of absences
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies specifically with benefits and external agencies (EEOC, DOL, and NLRB)
  • Draft and submit positions statements to external agencies as required
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations in all situations
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required
  • Provide day to day performance management guidance to management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Works closely with Union business agents to prevent and or quickly resolve grievances
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation
  • Participate in recruiting and employment needs as needed by the property
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning
  • Consults with management regarding interpretation and administration of human resource policies, programs, procedures and compliance with applicable state/federal statutes and regulations
  • Partner with all business unit employees to support the administration of benefits

Desired Qualifications

  • Seven to ten (7-10) years of progressive responsibility within HR
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including benefits, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, labor relations, leaves of absences diversity, performance management, training, employment federal and state respective employment laws
  • Experience supervising and directing HR teams within casino and hospitality environment
  • Direct experience working with outside legal teams, NLRB, UNITE HERE and Operating Engineers unions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Related field
  • Held the top position within an HR team that worked directly with executive teams
  • A valid Nevada Gaming License is required and must be obtained before entering this position
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
