Job Description

The Housekeeping Supervisor manages trains and inspects the performance of assigned Room Attendants, Turndown Attendants, Utility House Persons and Housekeeping Runners ensuring that all procedures are completed to the hotel’s standards. Assist where necessary to ensure optimum service to guests.

Job Focus

Focus is on, but not limited to the following:

  • Verify room status on AM reports; report discrepant rooms; prioritize and update status of check-out rooms.
  • Coordinate daily activities / inspections
  • Prepare daily assignments / tasks
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
  • Identify situations, which compromise the department's standards and delegate these tasks.
  • Inspect supply levels, cleanliness and organization of floor closets.
  • Assign designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
  • Check Room Attendant's carts for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
  • Inspect rooms cleaned by assigned Room Attendants, using designated checklist.
  • Ensure rooms are cleaned to the hotel specifications.
  • Follow up on corrections; directly contact Room Attendant and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  • Update room status after approving cleanliness and condition in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Check vacant rooms, verify status and update status of discrepant rooms throughout the shift.
  • Periodically check OOS/OOO rooms in accordance with hotel procedures and verify status.
  • "Mark" dirty sheets of randomly selected assigned rooms and follow up to ensure Room Attendants have changed bed sheets.
  • Counsel Room Attendants on any discrepancies.
  • Address, create and administer employee action notices
  • Ensure that cleanliness and condition of each area meets designated standards.
  • Directly contact respective personnel and relay any deficiencies to be corrected.
  • Complete work orders for maintenance repairs.
  • Accommodate guest requests for Housekeeping items or additional supplies expediently and courteously.
  • Follow up on delivery and return of all such items.
  • Conduct training of staff as assigned.
  • Monitor and handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Provide feedback on staff performance to manager.
  • Report disciplinary problems to manager.
  • E-mail any pertinent information to management
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving.
  • Review status of assignments and any follow-up action with manager and/or on-coming supervisor.
  • Any project assigned by management

Desired Qualifications

  • A minimum of four (4) years experience in a Housekeeping Supervisory role
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience is required
  • A High School Diploma is required
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal forms
  • A professional demeanor and attire is to be maintained at all times
  • Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to working independently with little to no supervision
  • Must be able to perform in a team environment
  • Proven ability to resolve guest conflicts with ease or determine if management is needed in certain guest situations
  • Flexible; possessing the ability to wear different, “hats” on short notice
  • Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of staff and leadership
  • Previous experience in a high-end luxury Gaming or Hospitality environment is desired
  • Must have exceptional time management skills
  • Proficient to Expert understanding of Computer systems such as: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Opera, HotSOS and Starguest is preferred
  • Proven ability to resolve guest conflicts with ease or determine if management is needed in certain guest situations
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Card (Health Card)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
